The Library's new StoryWalk title is now on display at the French Art Colony.
Our title for October is Boo Stew written by Donna L. Washington and illustrated by Jeffrey Ebbeler.
Curly Locks loves to cook but, unfortunately, the townspeople do not appreciate her cat hair cupcakes or her batwing brownies.
Her Mama tells her to follow her heart and keep doing what she loves.
One afternoon, her skin lizard lasagna that she left cooling on the windowsill disappears -- someone out there likes her cooking!
Next morning, a Scare, an inky creature from Toadsuck Swamp, appears and frightens the mayor away from his breakfast. He goes to the blacksmith to frighten the Scare away, but a bigger Scare comes along and frightens the blacksmith. Soon Scares are running wild and chasing the townspeople away from their dinner plates.
Curly Locks, however, isn't frightened and she has an idea -- maybe the Scares just need someone to cook for them. Curly sets right out to cook her Boo Stew!
The Scares try to scare her off with their "Gitchey Boo, / Gitchey Bon! / Gitchey Goo, / Gitchey Gone!" but Curly Locks keeps on cooking.
Will the Scares like Curly Locks' cooking and leave the townspeople alone?
