Are you interested in exploring your family roots?

If so, make sure to attend Bossard Library's Genealogy Day on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Past Ohio Genealogical Society president Margaret Cheney will offer a series of genealogy presentations throughout the day.

10:00 -- 11:15    Finding Your Roots: Beginning Genealogy Research -- Learn the basics needed to start researching your family history.

11:30 -- 12:45   Digging Deeper: Continuing Your Research -- This session will take you beyond the basics and allow you to improve your skills and take your family history to the next level.

12:45 -- 2:00   Lunch On Your Own -- Enjoy lunch at one of our local restaurants or bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the room.

2:00 -- 3:15      Branching Out: Applying to Lineage Societies -- Honor your ancestors' accomplishments by joining a lineage society. This session will discuss the documentation required and the research strategies needed to make a successful application.

A number of local groups/organizations will be on hand to answer questions regarding their organization and their collections.

Make sure to stop by the Library's table and check out the multitude of genealogy resources we have available for both beginning and advanced genealogists.

In more than 25 years of working on family history, Margaret Cheney has been very involved with her local genealogy chapters as well as the Ohio Genealogical Society.

For the Ohio Genealogical Society, she served on numerous committees and served as President for 6 years. She chaired First Families of Ohio for over 12 years and helped create Century Families of Ohio and the Military Order of Daughters and Sons of Ohio. 

Margaret's Ohio roots go back to 1795 when her 4th great-grandparents arrived in Jefferson County, Ohio. Margaret embraces technology and new ways of doing things and is always willing to share her knowledge with others.
